Is Rolling Stone Obsolete?

As a young photographer I was dazzled by all the glossy covers at the newsstand, especially Rolling Stone. Last issue I looked at had 58 pages, not much content, and don’t really know if it is relevant to music anymore, these days there is instagram, direct reach to your audience, Pink has 1.8 million followers, direct. I do enjoy the articles that I do read, but from the perspective of a musician, have you made the big time if your mentioned? I’m planning on sending one of my hand crafted promos to Jodi Peckmen, I want to do work for the magazine, always have from day one.
